stationery eye-candy!!

Hello everyone – I hope that you’re all well and happy today!!

One of my favourite blogs to follow is oh so beautiful paper, which is a lovely American blog that showcases all the latest trends in stationery. It is a wonderful go-to site if you are looking for inspiration for wedding stationery, baby shower invitations or baby announcements. Every year they showcase the National Stationery Show, which is a HUGE trade expo in New York – showcasing just stationery!! Can you image the beautiful array of colours and designs on display!! For the past few weeks we have been seeing some sneak-peeks of a few of the new products that will be on show. I am going to tempt you now with some lovely eye-candy…..

Once again I find myself drawn to Letterpress stationery!! Don’t you love it too?

One day (“when I grow up”) I would love to visit this show!!

a spring gift from me to you – gift-tags to download!

Hello everyone!! Welcome to a new week, and for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere – SPRING!! A time for fresh new beginnings and sunshine!! And of course all my favourite flowers.

I’ve been meaning to give you all a little gift for a while now, and decided that this was the opportune time! So – a free download for you all to make your own set of happy, floral gift-tags! My sister Caroline and I have been working on a new range of stationery, and a calendar for the New Year, and these tags are inspired by the creations that we are currently working on. Once you’ve downloaded the pdf, print it on an A4 card – choose a nice thick textured card to make it extra nice. Then simply cut out the tags, punch a little hole and attach some matching Twine or ribbon. Voila!! Download the pdf here or click on this first image (this will take you to an Acrobat page – you don’t have to be a member or sign-in – just click download and save to print!!).

Have fun, and Happy Spring to you all!!

a paper tea-party of note

Today I found myself in absolute awe…….. you know that feeling when you see something and just think “WOW” !!!! It’s one of those “via” stories (via facebook – via VISI magazine – OH WOW!!)

Elonah O’Neil-Reid, a very talented young lady from Pretoria, takes simple paper and magically (I’m sure it’s actually a lot of precise, carefull and patient work…) transforms it into the most amazing installations. Her latest project has been a High Tea installation for the Tashas Le Parc restaurant in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. It took her 8 weeks to create 220 hand assembled teacups, saucers and teapots from custom-embossed paper. Everything was then flat-packed, transported and hung. And what an amazing result!!!!

I’ll say it again – isn’t paper such an amazing medium!!! And I can’t wait to see what Elonah comes up with next…….

Tools of the Trade

Hello friends. I’ve been having a day of finding inspiration and working on some lovely pictures to share with you all.

We all use certain “tools” in our daily work – depending on what we do, some tools are more visually appealing than others. I’m lucky in that I work with lovely paper, pencils, twine, tape, ribbons etc etc……Others of you might work with needles, thread and fabric, or flowers, or food….. I’ve been having a look around at how these tools can be styled to create an appealing visual story, and have found some beautiful images.

Have you ever looked at your tools in an artistic way?  What pictures would you come up with….??
