Dietlind Wolf styling for Sweet Paul Summer 2012

Hello friends and welcome to a new week – a good one for all of us I hope!!

I got a bit of time this weekend to catch up on the latest issues of my favourite digital magazines (or e-zines…. not sure which name I prefer??). Anyway – Sweet Paul is ALWAYS stunning, and the Summer 2012 issue does not disappoint!! If you’re looking for some scrummy summer recipes or decor / accessory ideas then go take a look quickly!! It really is a fresh, bright and beachy issue. It’s always wierd being in the Southern Hemisphere – sitting here in my winter woollies reading about Summer. Maybe we’re lucky – we get to save up all these wonderful ideas for when the summer hits (and, lets face it, we have GOOD HOT summers!!).

I got really excited as I neared the end of the magazine to come across a really beautifully styled shoot of vintage haberdashery finds ( I probably got excited due to my ribbon and twine foraging last week!!), coupled with some gorgeous summer blooms. SO beautiful….

I have seen Dietlind’s work featured before by Holly Becker over at decor8, but never tire of scrolling through the images. She is a german stylist who is featured in many magazines, and always creates the most inspiring pictures. It’s well worth dropping in to her website (here) to admire her lovely work. I am inspired (where will I find the time this week….??!!) to play around with my camera and maybe style a few pics of my own!!

Event styling inspiration from ‘my little jedi’

Have you all discovered issuu yet?? If not – it’s a must! Issuu is a website where you will find an amazing library of online magazines from all over the world and covering all topics. You are able to set-up an account and subscribe to the mags that appeal to you.

I was wondering around there last night and discovered a lovely Aussie magazine called My Little Jedi – dedicated to beautiful entertaining, highlighting all the special occasions of the current season (this Autumn issue covers Easter, Mothers Day and a host of other lovely tea and birthday parties for girls both big and small). It is really inspiring with ideas, styling and recipes. So – no more excuses for ordinary tea-parties – it’s time to make your parties beautiful!!!!

I really love the current trend of using paper card and whimsical design to decorate an event – be it a baby shower, birthday, wedding or anniversary (or just for fun to make it pretty!!). It offers you, the host, an opportunity to personalise your table and show your guests that they are important to you. It’s also a great way to extend a theme (by using a design “story” for your invitations, table styling, favours and even “Thank You” cards). We all go ‘to town’ when planning and hosting kiddies parties, but who is to say that we can’t do it for all the important events in our lives???

I am just dying to design and print some lovely things for a party!! If you live in South Africa (sorry to my overseas readers, but I don’t yet have payment facilities for overseas clients), are planning an event, and would like to make it pretty - contact me and we can work on some ideas for you.

Wishing you all a beautiful, inspiring weekend. xx

{Mag}rouge Issue#2 – naturally beautiful…

The second issue of {Mag}rouge is out and, yet again, I am loving it!! These talented gals have put together such a beuatiful publication, highlighting all the natural elements that can be brought into a wedding (or any occasion for that matter).

From Florence to Iceland, Australia and back to their homeland, New Zealand we are taken on a visual feast of lovely weddings, all with their own style and personality. I love the colour story on Ruby and Aqua (remember I did a story of my own in December here), as well as “Brunch by the Beach”, and the Italian elopement is the stuff dreams are made of…

Click here to see {Mag}rouge Issue#2, and in case you missed Issue#1 find it here.

I know it’s all about weddings, by why shouldn’t these lovely ideas and inspiration be used for a birthday party any day of the year? How about a romantic dinner or picnic just for the 2 of you…….

Feast your eyes!!

Loving Sweet Paul Spring 2012!!

It’s that funny time of the year when the seasons are beginning to change and the difference between the Northern and Southern hemispheres just feels a little more vivid….. down here in the Cape we are looking forward to cooler weather and you gals in Europe and the USA are looking forward to some sunshine, cherry blossoms and tulips!!!

With Easter around the corner I am reminded of my years in Michigan and how unfamiliar I was with Easter decorations. And the latest issue of Sweet Paul is plump with the most amazing inspiration for decorating, baking and cooking for Easter and Spring. It really is a work of art in itself – don’t you just love a magazine that is both beautiful AND useful, never mind just being an inspiring feast for the eyes. I do – and I love this issue. Go take a peek here – quick!!

For some reason these pages of “Feeling BLUE” stood out for me – maybe because I’ve been feeling a bit blue and blah lately, or maybe it’s the blue larkspur that caught my eye….. either way, enjoy!!

Maybe it’s time to start thinking about some easter baking in my house….

I hope you’re all well and happy!! Thanks for popping by!

Cath xx
