letterpress love from studio carta

Hello!! Don’t you just love surprises? I got one last week and was so chuffed.

I got an e-mail from Angela Liguori that immediately got my attention – you know in that way of “someone I really admire is e-mailing ME!!”. To explain – Angela has a business called Studio Carta in Boston. She has THE MOST gorgeous range of products – letterpress stationery, italian cotton ribbon (in every colour you can imagine), wrapping paper, vintage stamps and envelopes and tools. I dream of visiting her shop one day!! Well – it turns out I won a prize on her blog. A lovely set of the most beautiful letterpress cards which arrived in my postbox yesterday. I absolutely love them. One is going into a frame, and the rest will be used very sparingly for very special people!! Aren’t these divine…….

I can’t leave it there – you’ve all got to see her lovely store and ribbons…….

One day I will pop-in Angela and THANK YOU so much for my parcel.

reflecting and relaxing…

Dear Friends!! I have missed my time with you – blogging about all the lovely things and people that inspire me!! I feel like the last 2 months or so of my life have been consumed by my online shop and the Christmas Markets that I participated in.

I am extremely grateful for the business successes that have come my way in this time, but, to be honest, it has been a very tiring time. Now that we are on holiday (Yay!!!!! I am lying on the bed looking at the sea over my laptop as I write this) I can finally reflect and relax. I have learned so much in this busy time, worked with my sister which has been very special, met some wonderful friends and connected with clients face-to-face (which has been wonderful). I achieved a goal which I set myself, and now have the gift of hindsight when I consider doing it again!! On the flipside I have been stressed, I have spent many evenings working in my office and neglecting my wonderful hubby, I have packed, moved and re-packed my workspace TWICE (for the markets), and the fridge and grocery cupboard have been empty on more than one occasion!! So now – what now??… Now I have time to think about what I want for myself and Paperpeony in 2013. Have no fear  – I’m not going anywhere, but just deciding where I want to focus next year. I have some exciting ideas that I am working on, and some things that I need to prioritise.

So  – in the next few weeks you can expect to hear from me often – as I share my inspirations, introduce you to some of my new friends, tell you a bit about our holiday and maybe share a few creations (I have a new skill I am going to try to learn….) My shop will be closed until sometime in the early part of January – I have not yet set a re-opening date, but will let you know once I do.

Here are a few images that have inspired and energised me recently.

Please do keep popping by – I’m looking forward to re-connecting with you all, and re-charging my batteries (physically and spiritually). Lots of love to you all from sunny (and windy) Pringle Bay!

sania pell for cox and cox

hello friends!! The sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day outside my window – so lovely. I am up to my eyeballs in my studio, but enjoying myself!!

I have shared my admiration of Sania Pell with you all before (here) and today there is more!  Sania lives and works in London, where she is a mom, creative soul, author, artist, photographer and stylist. And I absolutely love visiting her blog – her photos are always so beautiful and the way she styles her compositions is so inspiring. I am really in awe of her talent. Sania recently shared some images from a new catalogue that she styled for Cox & Cox (the MOST beautiful online store – and they ship internationally!!). Not only do I love the look of the catalogue but I love the products too!! My sister and I were pouring over it recently – oohing an aahing. Isn’t it funny how online catalogues have taken the place of “window shoppping”. How times have  changed.

So – here are some of my favourite images and products. Feast your eyes on these beautiful colours – papers and ribbons that just make you want to wrap presents. I also love the grey walls and they contrast they provide.

She has used the colours so well, while mainting a constant “look” throughout the catalogue.

Sania has a particularly  lovely way of bringing a sketch into a photo, to mirror the subject matter – and here she does it again. Oh my!!

Do yourselves a favour and make a cuppa, sit back and take a virtual “stroll” through this catalogue.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! Please remember that my shop will be closed for the next week as I will be out at the beach house, relaxing and working on my stationery for the markets. I will be available on e-mail and will be here on the blog though!!

wrap it beautifully!!

Hello friends!! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready for another week! My life is getting busier (and my studio “fuller”) as I get ready for 3 Christmas markets where I will be selling loads of lovely goodies. This is a first for me, and in true Virgo style I am planning and organising!! I will let you all know about the Markets closer to the time, and give you a peek of what I am making. So exciting!!

Keeping with the birthday theme (my sister was last week and I am this week), today I am sharing some beautiful wrapping paper that I have discovered (unfortunately online and not in-person). I am a sucker for lovely design and colours, and absolutely LOVE the range from Smock (who are based in the USA) – they have gorgeous notebooks and giftboxes too. I wish I wish………… And then there is LoveMae from Australia, who have created a simply beautiful range of wrapping-paper. Also from Australia is Bespoke Letterpress with vibrant colours and some fresh geometric designs. I would love to buy it all and display it – would probably never use it as it is just too pretty (stupid – I know!!!)

One day when my studio “grows-up” I dream of creating and selling my own range of lovely gift-wrap too……..

Have a fabulous week!!
