Liebster Blog Love

Hurray!!!! The lovely Chi over at Carousel has awarded me a Liebster Blog Award!! Thank you Chi – I appreciate the recognition for my efforts. I have only been blogging since October 2011, and it has been an exciting learning curve, so all encouragement means a lot to me!!

So – what is the Liebster Award? Well, Liebster means favourite or beloved in german, and the purpose of the award is to appreciate and support smaller blogs. How it works is that I thank and give a shout-out to the blog who passed the award on to me, and then pass the award on to 5 more blogs, that I enjoy and support. I think it’s a great idea!!

So my five blogs that I have chosen to pass the award on to are:

  1. sang the bird
  2. farmhousehome
  3. page thirteen
  4. jarflydesigns
  5. stillpluslife

Why don’t you pop on over and visit them – you may enjoy them!!

Stop and Breathe….

Today I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything that I need to be doing and am battling to focus…….. Too many things on my list, too many distractions….. So to get myself into the right frame of mind to work on wedding invitations for my friend Ms Wendy I need to BREATHE……..

Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow feeling better. Enjoy your Thursday!!

Searching for Inspiration….

Hello Everyone. I am struggling this week – we have been experiencing a heatwave for the past 5 days with temperatures hitting 38/39 degrees celsius (that’s about 100 farenheit) and it is taking it’s toll on everyone. The majority of South African homes don’t have aircon so you can imagine what everyone is going through – sleepless nights, frustrating days……ughhhh. Not for a long time have I envied the “office-bound” folk out there who bask in their airconditioned environments!!

The result, for me, has been a frustrating lack of inspiration. I am trying to get work done, but the ideas are not original and the results are not pleasing. I hate being like this!! (maybe this is the time for a time-out?……)

So today I am turning to a few photos I took in September – at the beginning of Spring when I was so eagerly anticipating the warmer weather…..that’ll teach me!!! My mom had picked her first rose of the season for me on my birthday and I had it in our bathroom. It was so beautiful that I had to take a few pictures. I have looked at these pictures today from a different perspective. What do they say to me? How would I describe them? How do they make me feel?

I’m hoping this little exercise will whet my creative juices and help me – while we wait for the weekend when “apparently” the temperatures will ease…..

Wishing you all inspiration no matter your climate today!!

A Teatime Gift ….

Hello Friends!! We are really experiencing the heat of summer here in Stellenbosch at the moment – temperatures are peaking in the high 30′s (celsius) and, together with the plants outside I’m wilting!!

Something I have not shared with you all yet is that I am a tea drinker. No coffee for me!! (it’s a long story going back to when I was about 3 or 4 years old). I simply don’t like coffee (or tiramisu, or coffee cake …… yes, I am a fussy one!!) and don’t feel as if I’m missing out because I LOVE my tea. English breakfast is my favourite. And in weather like this there’s nothing like a cuppa to refresh you….

A couple of years ago I discovered the most beautiful teabags in Paris – made from a silk-chiffon type of fabric instead of the boring old paper type of bag. I get friends and family to bring them back for me whenever someone goes to Paris! Well – imagine my excitement when I found them at a local shop just before Christmas. I immediately decided to transform them into special gifts for my special girlfriends – “Friendship Tea” with personalised quotation tags replacing the original tags. I even made colour co-ordinated boxes. I had such fun making them and giving them. (That’s the real joy of Christmas for me).

The lovely hydrangeas I picked from the garden to style my photos have now dried and burnt in the heat, but I can still enjoy the pictures while enjoying my tea!!

Wishing you all a fabulous Tuesday!

Cath xx
