Ideas magazine – special edition

Hello everyone. I’m hoping you all had a wonderful weekend and are excited for the week ahead!! We had a good weekend, attending a stunning wine auction on Saturday (which was supposed to be a picnic, but the venue was moved at the eleventh hour due to flooding and snow!!!!) I was possibly mistaken when I said a while ago that summer was coming…..??

For those of you in South Africa - have you seen the latest “special edition” Ideas magazine, entited Creative Ideas? Do yourselves a favour and run out and get it before it’s sold out!!!

This beautiful magazine is actually more like a book, with the most wonderful creative ideas, patterns, tear-out templates, paper sheets and even stickers!!! It’s almost to pretty to use. What a wonderful piece of inspiration the team at Ideas have created!! And I got so excited to see washi tape being used, with hand-made gifttags being demonstrated. Many local crafters still haven’t realised what a wonderful thing washi tape is, so I’m hoping this will get more people excited about it!!

Talking of washi tape – I have replenished my stock and updated the webpage (here). I have also been stock-piling some stunning new designs and patterns in lovely colours, to launch at the markets!! Keep popping by the blog in the next 2 week for more sneak peeks!!

Wishing you all an inspiring week!!

sania pell for cox and cox

hello friends!! The sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day outside my window – so lovely. I am up to my eyeballs in my studio, but enjoying myself!!

I have shared my admiration of Sania Pell with you all before (here) and today there is more!  Sania lives and works in London, where she is a mom, creative soul, author, artist, photographer and stylist. And I absolutely love visiting her blog – her photos are always so beautiful and the way she styles her compositions is so inspiring. I am really in awe of her talent. Sania recently shared some images from a new catalogue that she styled for Cox & Cox (the MOST beautiful online store – and they ship internationally!!). Not only do I love the look of the catalogue but I love the products too!! My sister and I were pouring over it recently – oohing an aahing. Isn’t it funny how online catalogues have taken the place of “window shoppping”. How times have  changed.

So – here are some of my favourite images and products. Feast your eyes on these beautiful colours – papers and ribbons that just make you want to wrap presents. I also love the grey walls and they contrast they provide.

She has used the colours so well, while mainting a constant “look” throughout the catalogue.

Sania has a particularly  lovely way of bringing a sketch into a photo, to mirror the subject matter – and here she does it again. Oh my!!

all images: sania pell and cox & cox

Do yourselves a favour and make a cuppa, sit back and take a virtual “stroll” through this catalogue.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! Please remember that my shop will be closed for the next week as I will be out at the beach house, relaxing and working on my stationery for the markets. I will be available on e-mail and will be here on the blog though!!

loving typo in Cape Town!!!

Hello. My name is Cathy and I am a stationery addict………

Whenever we travel overseas I always come home with stationery – cards, notebooks, etc etc. (my hubby just shakes his head at me – men just don’t understand!!) Well – I no longer need an airticket to feed my stationery addiction!! Typo is here!! This super-delicious Australian stationery store has opened a few branches in South Africa. YAY!!!!! I visited the Canal Walk store on Thursday last week. OMG. You know it’s bad when the shop-assistant offers to relieve you of your loot and  keep it at the counter for you – and then when you’re paying, comments on how much you bought!!!!! And I proudly told her I will be back!!!

This is what I came home with (this time)……

I love how things coordinate – and match my style!!

Such lovely cards to keep in a frame

All the lovely notebooks and journals to choose from….

and a couple more!!

They have an amazing selection of pens and markers too.

(all images above: my own)

So a warning to all my friends and loved ones – you know where your next gifts may be coming from………

Loving Sweet Paul Spring 2012!!

It’s that funny time of the year when the seasons are beginning to change and the difference between the Northern and Southern hemispheres just feels a little more vivid….. down here in the Cape we are looking forward to cooler weather and you gals in Europe and the USA are looking forward to some sunshine, cherry blossoms and tulips!!!

With Easter around the corner I am reminded of my years in Michigan and how unfamiliar I was with Easter decorations. And the latest issue of Sweet Paul is plump with the most amazing inspiration for decorating, baking and cooking for Easter and Spring. It really is a work of art in itself – don’t you just love a magazine that is both beautiful AND useful, never mind just being an inspiring feast for the eyes. I do – and I love this issue. Go take a peek here – quick!!

For some reason these pages of “Feeling BLUE” stood out for me – maybe because I’ve been feeling a bit blue and blah lately, or maybe it’s the blue larkspur that caught my eye….. either way, enjoy!!

Maybe it’s time to start thinking about some easter baking in my house….

I hope you’re all well and happy!! Thanks for popping by!

Cath xx
