loving bhldn for wedding inspiration

Hello friends!! I hope you’re all having a good week and looking forward to the long weekend (here in South Africa Monday is Heritage Day). I am slowly recovering, but not 100% yet. Oh for the day when there is no coughing and no need for tissues!!!!

I had such a lovely afternoon yesterday with 2 lovely ladies, shooting a Christmas gift guide for a local magazine. I will tell you more when it hits the shelves. I will say it again – my blog and business are bringing me into contact with such lovely people. Thanks Colette and Henrique!!

So, today I want to share a new “find” with you. Some of you may know that one of my dreams is to get inside an Anthropologie store – and I’ve warned my hubby that it will not be a cheap visit!!! Well, I recently discovered Anthropologie’s online wedding store called BHLDN (beholden) – oh my!!! It just makes you want to get married all over again! The dresses are a dream! I was especially inspired by all the paper decor items (me with my love of paper…) – such beautiful ideas. We are heading into wedding season here in the winelands, with the beautiful green leaves, blue skies and fresh flowers, so it’s a good time to share some lovely wedding ideas I think!

Which are your favourites? Mine is the white laser-cut floral backdrop. I think I would frame it and hang it somewhere in my home to admire for a looooooong time!!!!

spring is coming…..

Hello friends. It’s the last week before Spring!! This is my favourite time of the year – everything is new and fresh and brighter!! My sister and I both have birthdays in September, and my Mom has always had lovely spring flowers out of the garden for us (I saw the freesia buds just the other day – and realised that my birthday is coming…again….). I must admit that life has been getting me down a bit lately, so I’m looking forward to this new freshness.

I’ve put together some images that say “SPRING” to me (I’ve been “collecting” lately on pinterest). I love the colours, the blossoms, the ideas. Think entertaining outside in the sun, cool drinks and fresh flowers, springtime weddings, strawberries – and of course peonies (but only in October!!)

What epitomises spring for you??

Wishing you a lovely week!!

{Mag}rouge Issue#2 – naturally beautiful…

The second issue of {Mag}rouge is out and, yet again, I am loving it!! These talented gals have put together such a beuatiful publication, highlighting all the natural elements that can be brought into a wedding (or any occasion for that matter).

From Florence to Iceland, Australia and back to their homeland, New Zealand we are taken on a visual feast of lovely weddings, all with their own style and personality. I love the colour story on Ruby and Aqua (remember I did a story of my own in December here), as well as “Brunch by the Beach”, and the Italian elopement is the stuff dreams are made of…

Click here to see {Mag}rouge Issue#2, and in case you missed Issue#1 find it here.

I know it’s all about weddings, by why shouldn’t these lovely ideas and inspiration be used for a birthday party any day of the year? How about a romantic dinner or picnic just for the 2 of you…….

Feast your eyes!!

Creating Monograms..

Today I’ve been working on personalised stationery that is to be a gift for a soon-to-be bride and groom. Such a thoughtful gift to give a couple as they start a life together.

I find the process rather interesting as I always ask after the personality and style of the person who will be using the stationery when working on a design idea. Once I meet with the client I offer a few options and then you see the personality and style of the client coming through too. So what we end up with is a collaboration of styles of the “giver’ and the ‘receiver”. When you think about isn’t that what giving a gift is all about? I think it makes it even more special when so much thought goes into a gift…..

I find monograms such beautiful things -this picture inspired me in my process, and with such lovely colours too. I just had to share!!

Will give you a peek at what I have designed once the lucky couple have received them in a few weeks.
